The movie crossed the $300 million milestone at the worldwide box office thanks to its solid debut in Japan and China. The Exorcist: Martyrs (Photo Credit – Universal Pictures)
Mike Flanagan is bringing his competencies back to the screen. This time with an even bigger franchise, The Exorcist. The director, who is famous for several horror outings and has been applauded by the King of Horror, Stephen King, for his prolific work in Doctor Sleep, is all set to reveal new evil. The upcoming film titled The Exorcist: Martyrs won’t just portray fear in a very new form, but it brings a new touch to the old franchise, as the movie revolves around murder, mystery, and possession.
For those unversed, the film in question hits the big screens on March 11, 2027. Written and helmed by Flanagan, the project will be produced by Blumhouse Productions, Atomic Monster, and Morgan Creek Entertainment. If you are already intrigued, here are a few more details about the new horror.
The Exorcist: Martyrs Cast: Who Stars In The Film?
The Exorcist: Martyrs will be a fresh take on the age-old tales. With that, get ready to watch Scarlett Johansson in a never-before-seen role. Yes, the talented actress, who has been seen as a robot, a magician’s assistant, a mother during World War II, and a spy, will portray a detective in the film.
Besides the Jungle Book voice-over actress, the cast also includes Diane Lane, Lawrence Fishburne, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Hamish Linklater, John Leguizamo, and Sasha Calle. Scott McNairy, John Gallagher Jr., and Jacobi Jupe will also be seen in the film.
The Exorcist: Martyrs Plot: What Is The Story About?
The Exorcist: Martyrs follows Detective Julie Miller (Johansson), a New York City homicide detective whose past comes back to haunt her after a disturbing new case emerges. Thirteen years earlier, Miller ended a reign of terror by a satanic serial killer named Father Sunday, a character that will be played by John Leguizamo. However, when another killer leaves a horrifying message written in an altar boy’s blood inside a church crypt, Miller is pulled back into a case that might have some connections to the darkness she thought she had left behind.
Johannson’s character will be guided by Chiwetel Ejiofor’s Father William, a former prison chaplain who heard Father Sunday’s final confession, and rookie detective Gina Restrepo. Sasha Calle, who is best known for portraying the first-ever live-action Supergirl, will play this role.
As the investigation progresses, the characters in the film stumble upon discoveries that have a disturbing connection between a lineage of serial killers and an evil force that goes beyond ordinary criminal activity. Interestingly, the film brings the two worlds together. Moreover, while it carries the elements of a supernatural horror, the latest Exorcist film will also act as a crime thriller.
The Exorcist: Martyrs: How Does It Fit Into The Franchise?
For those unversed, the Exorcist franchise began with William Friedkin’s 1973 horror classic, which followed a young girl, Regan MacNeil, and her terrifying experience with demonic possession. The film instantly became a major hit and a prime entry in the supernatural horror genre, eventually leading to several sequels, prequels, and later installments, including The Exorcist: Believer (2023).
However, it should be noted that The Exorcist: Martyrs is not a direct continuation of The Exorcist: Believer. Instead, director Mike Flanagan is developing a standalone story set within the established Exorcist universe.
As seen in the trailer, the movie introduces new characters, possibly setting up a new timeline within the same franchise. This is unlike the previous installments, which usually revolved around older characters, especially Father Damien Karras, Father Lankester Merrin, and others.
Kon Yashwant Pansare Trailer Review: Bharat Jadhav Can’t Hook You Enough Despite Looking Like A Good Drama! (Photo Credit: YouTube)
Courtroom dramas are a genre that never runs out of attention, and Bharat Jadhav enters the world of yet another courtroom drama that looks like it ticks all the boxes of a good drama. The trailer for Kon Yashwant Pansare has been dropped, and this drama on Zee5 establishes a world centered around guilt, system failures, and corruption. We meet Yashwant Pansare (Bharat Jadhav), a lawyer who gave up on the justice system years ago after a personal failure. However, when a suspicious death forces him out of his shell, he teams up with a headstrong, idealistic young lawyer to file a public interest litigation against the establishment.
The premise on paper is looking interesting, but the trailer is not keeping me hooked somehow. Director Anand Dilip Gokhale has assembled all the right ingredients: a broken protagonist seeking redemption, a powerful system working against him, and a formidable rival lawyer played by Pushkar Shrotri. Yet, as the trailer unfolds, the narrative feels very familiar. Moreover, the trailer looks like it has been edited very loosely, failing to generate any intrigue!
Bharat Jadhav grounds the trailer of Kon Yashwant Pansare with his raw screen presence. He brings a weathered exhaustion to Yashwant Pansare that instantly makes you feel for the character. Pushkar Shrotri acts as a fine competitor, bringing enough drama. However, the trailer looks more like a daily soap and does not have enough elements to keep you hooked!
The predictable dialogue beats are failing to create enough intrigue. The visuals cut between past guilt and present courtroom arguments without building any sharp storyline! At times it looks like an investigative thriller, in other frames it tries to be a courtroom drama! Kon Yashwant Pansare promises to be a sincere courtroom drama with Bharat Jadhav at its heart. While it has all the fundamental pieces in place, it lacks the thrill and spark that would make me want to watch this one on Zee5.
Academy Award-nominated actor recalls the day he read the script for 20th Century Studios and Imagine Entertainment’s Whalefall, which arrives in cinemas this October.
Whalefall Plot & Cast
Whalefall, based on Daniel Kraus’s bestselling novel, brings a gripping survival thriller to the big screen, starring Austin Abrams, Josh Brolin, Elisabeth Shue, John Ortiz, Jane Levy and Emily Rudd. Following the death of his father (Josh Brolin), Jay Gardiner (Austin Abrams) goes diving off the central Coast of California in search of his remains, but is swallowed by a massive sperm whale. While trapped inside its belly with only one hour of oxygen left, Jay comes to realize that the hard-earned lessons his father imparted may be the key to his escape.
Josh Brolin On Reading The Whalefall Script
Actor Brolin, who has a vast filmography filled with exciting movies and genres, revisits the day he read the script for the first time. “I slowed down when I was reading it because I didn’t want it to end,” says Brolin. “I finished it, I put it on my chest, I wrapped my arms around my chest, and I sobbed. I didn’t just cry; I sobbed, because it resonated with me so deeply, and it was poetic and visceral, and emotional.”
Brolin plays Mitt Gardiner, father of Jay. “Our story actually starts with Mitt,” explains producer Allan Mandelbaum. “He is the catalyst for Jay’s adventure.” Mitt is a hero and a local diving legend, a member of the Monterey Dive Club, and someone who is passionate about the sea.
“Mitt is pretty tough as a father,” says Brolin. “I think of him as this seafaring, nautical-obsessed, Steinbeck-obsessed character, and I don’t know if I’ve ever been so willing and happy to dive into something. He is such a great character, and what I love about him is that he has a presence throughout the entire film, and he’s really driving the narrative.”
Whalefall Crew & Release Date
Whalefall is directed by Brian Duffield and features a screenplay by Brian Duffield & Daniel Kraus. The producers are Brian Grazer, p.g.a., Brian Duffield, p.g.a., Jeb Brody, Allan Mandelbaum, p.g.a., with Doug Merrifield, Richard Abate, Will Rowbotham serving as executive producers.
Whalefall arrives exclusively in Indian theaters on October 16, 2026.
Drishyam 3 North America Box Office: Will It Destroy This Shah Rukh Khan Biggie & Enter Bollywood’s Top 10? (Photo Credit – Star Studio18/Netflix)
Ajay Devgn’s Vijay Salgaonkar is ruling internationally and crossing the $5 million milestone in North America ($5.04M) at a rapid speed, proving that high-stakes, story-driven thrillers have strong legs in traditional NRI-dominated overseas markets. Drishyam 3 has churned out a huge number in North America, and the film is moving towards its first big milestone, after becoming Ajay Devgn’s highest-grossing film in the territory.
Second-Highest Grosser Of 2026
Drishyam: The Conclusion is the second-highest Bollywood film in North America in 2026, after Dhurandhar 2. Ranveer Singh’s biggie enjoys the ultimate spot with a massive $28.64 million collection. Entering the prestigious All-Time Top 10 in North America requires filling the gap of $3.56M+ to the 10th position. The spot is held by Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki, which earned a gross collection of $8.60 million in North America.
Drishyam 3 North America Box Office
Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam 3 has unleashed a storm across the North American box office (USA & Canada). The crime thriller is currently standing at $5.04 million gross. To destroy Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki and climb into the All-Time Top 10 list, Drishyam 3 needs another $3.57 million to cross the $8.60M mark.
If Drishyam 3 continues its steady second-week trajectory across multiplexes in the US and Canada, surpassing $8.60M will put Ajay Devgn directly into an exclusive overseas club dominated primarily by Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, and Ranveer Singh. With $5.04 million already in the bag, Vijay Salgaonkar has proved his overseas dominance. Whether the film can gather the extra $3.57 million needed to knock SRK’s Dunki out of the top 10 will depend entirely on how strongly it holds against upcoming releases.

Vijaynagar’er Hirey Movie Review: A Promising Adventure That Falls Short (Photo Credit – YouTube)
What’s Good: The backdrop of the majestic ruins of Hampi and the quest for a hidden treasure. The use of myth and history to weave a story.
What’s Bad: The pacing and acting. The script meanders and doesn’t really deliver the highs usually expected of an adventure movie.
Loo Break: Anytime you want and as many times.
Watch or Not?: Only if you have nothing better to watch. There are far better options in the same genre.
Language: Bengali

The adventure takes us to the majestic ruins of Hampi (the seat of the erstwhile Vijaynagara Empire) and to the banks of the Tungabhadra River. Prosenjit, who plays Kakababu, is tasked with the quest for a precious diamond, the Hen’s Egg, which, according to myth, is the lost jewel of the Vijaynagara Empire. Along the way, he has to fight adversaries and decode cryptic clues and codes to succeed.

Vijaynagar’er Hirey Movie Review: Script Analysis
The movie opens in the past on a high-stakes chase on hilly terrain, a botched attempt at giving the chase a Sin City feel! Kakababu manages to escape the villains but ends in a fatal crash, in the process losing his leg, and backstory of his limp.
Cut to present-day Kolkata, in a museum of antiques. Terrorists take the museum hostage but are neutralized single-handedly by Kakababu! He pronounces with great elan, “This is Kakababu’s Kolkata. Invaluable artifacts cannot be stolen for somebody’s fancy!” Thus setting the tone for further adventure.
Kakababu, along with his nephew Shontu (Aaryan Bhowmik), sets off to Hampi on a holiday. There, he checks into a heritage hotel along with his friends Rinku, her husband Ranjan, and a young drummer, Jojo. But in reality, he has been summoned by his former mentor, Prof. Bhagawati Prasad Sharma, a genius and an ailing man with a hidden secret. Prof. Sharma urges Kakababu to start the quest for a lost/hidden jewel, the Hen’s Egg, a precious diamond.
Kakababu has to overcome many hurdles and adversaries in his quest for the jewel. There’s a local antique mafia, which is after the jewel; a tribal clan called Kavach, the original guardian of the treasure; and backstabbers (friends who turn foes out of greed). Using ancient architecture, history, and folklore, Kakababu decodes cryptic clues and numerical codes.
Along the way, Kakababu’s mentor, Prof. Sharma, is murdered, and the burden of seeking the truth gets even heavier for him. Does he find the diamond? What else does he discover? Forms the base of the film.
Vijaynagar’er Hirey Movie Review: Star Performance
Prosenjit Chatterjee, as Kakababu, is comfortable in the role, as he has reprised it for the 4th time in a row. He’s understated and controlled and pulls off a fine act. The way he explains historical facts or solves mind-numbing clues looks natural. He looks the part of an intelligent, intense truth-seeker. Prosenjit puts on a convincing act as the limping sleuth ready to outsmart his adversaries.
The rest of the cast is there to support Kakababu. Their part in the film could certainly have been better written. Aaryan Bhowmik as Shontu is confused and not impactful. His character is sketchy, and he doesn’t come across as a convincing sidekick for Kakababu. The villain Mohan Singh (Anujoy Chattopadhyay) hams his way through. One is confused by his character arc. Where is he from? Is he a local or a Bengali? And his insufferable South Indian accent! Trash!
The other characters, Rinku, Ranjan, and Jojo, barely make an impact. Sometimes you feel their presence is only for the head count. And that funny revelation at the end that Ranjan is an IB officer in disguise! But it has no part in the script to justify this bit. Jojo plays the bumbling idiot, and if he was intended to be the comic element, then the purpose is not served! Rajnandini Paul as Kasturidevi Raya plays the role of an actress and a princess of the Chandragiri dynasty! And she speaks fluent Bengali! Did I miss any part of her history or past?! Then there’s her U-turn towards the end, which is a predictable twist and hardly surprising!
Vijaynagar’er Hirey Movie Review: A Treasure Hunt Through Hampi’s Ruins (Photo Credit – YouTube)
Vijaynagar’er Hirey Movie Review: Direction, Music
Chandrasish Ray’s direction lacks freshness and feels dated. There is too much emphasis on trying to be cool. But the treatment is dated and follows the stereotypes and formula right through. There is over-the-top acting, stereotypical villains, and weak action choreography. The film meanders and lacks the pace or dramatic highs of an adventure movie.
Despite the majestic backdrop of Hampi and the ruins, the cinematography and shooting don’t actually capture the grandness. The ruins could have been a perfect setup for an intriguing and tense film, but the screenplay falls short. The direction follows the regular tropes of a commercial film, glorifying the hero, over-dramatic acting, emphasis on punchlines, and a weak character arc of the supporting cast.

Vijaynagar’er Hirey Movie Review: The Last Word
The movie has an interesting plot. It does weave historical facts and myth into a fun adventure story. But the screenplay doesn’t do justice. The pacing is inconsistent, and in places, the hamming of the supporting cast, especially the villain, can get tiring. Overall, you can give it a one-time watch.
Kakababu, with his problem-solving skills and knowledge of history, keeps you engaged. It’s quite nice how, in the end, Kakababu solves the riddle and enters the secret chambers to find the treasure. Special mention for the production design here, good detailing of the period props, and a well-constructed set.

Drishyam 3 Box Office Day 10 Advance Booking & Prediction (Photo Credit – Star Studio18)
Drishyam 3 is running riot in its second weekend. Yes, it was expected to perform well during the weekend, but no one thought it would go berserk. Shattering all expectations, the film went past the 25 crore mark yesterday on day 9, and now it gears up for another rocking day at the Indian box office. In advance bookings alone, it has grossed 7.5 crore+, hinting at a blockbuster second Sunday. Keep reading for a detailed advance booking and prediction report of day 10!
The Bollywood crime thriller has 15,170 shows scheduled for today, an impressive number. Across major cities, it has a big number of shows, which is helping film maintain pace. Another thing is that the ticket rates are significantly higher than the standard rates. The average ticket price is well above 300 rupees, which is proving to be a big boost to collections.
Drishyam 3 grosses 7.5 crore+ through day 10 advance bookings
Coming to the advance booking update of day 10, Drishyam 3 sold 2.46 lakh tickets (excluding blocked seats). With this, the film has maintained advance ticket sales of 1.5 lakh or higher for the straight 10 days, a big feat for a crime thriller. In terms of collections, it has grossed a solid 7.67 crore at the Indian box office through second-Sunday advances. In net collections, it equals 6.5 crore.
Day 10 prediction: A blockbuster second Sunday on the cards!
Besides strong advance bookings, Drishyam 3 will see a big walk-in audience turnout today. Generally, one expects a film to grow from Saturday to Sunday, but in this case, the crime thriller overperformed on Saturday, and the dip will come in the night occupancy. Considering all this, the film targets 26-28 crore net at the Indian box office on day 10. Nonetheless, it’s a blockbuster number!
With such a big second Sunday on the cards, the film will enter the 300 crore (net) club today, making history for Ajay Devgn. Yes, the crime thriller will emerge as the first 300 crore net grosser for the superstar, and what’s more remarkable is that the film will achieve the feat in just 10 days.
Other Mommy North America Box Office: Records Strong Thursday Previews (Photo Credit – Universal Pictures)
Other Mommy, starring Jessica Chastain, has landed with solid previews at the North American box office. But with poor critics’ ratings, could its opening weekend be hampered? The horror movie is expected to land at #1 in the box office rankings in North America in its opening weekend. Keep scrolling for the deets.
The critics gave it just 20% on Rotten Tomatoes‘ Tomatometer, and the audience rating is also discouraging. Critics noted that despite Jessica Chastain’s commendable performance as the spectral embodiment of an overbearing parent, Other Mommy was too silly for its occasionally effective jump scares to make the film genuinely spooky. The movie is expected to have a rocky run at the box office.
Other Mommy’s Thursday previews at the North American box office
According to box office analyst, Luiz Fernando, the Jessica Chastain starrer Other Mommy collected a solid $3.6 million from the Thursday previews at the North American box office. It is much better than expected and is above many horror movies as well. Other Mommy’s Thursday previews gross is more than Iron Lung‘s [$3.5 million], Scream 5 [$3.5 million], The Black Phone [$3 million], and Longlegs [$3 million].
According to reports, with $3.6 million previews, a film could open with more than $30 million in its opening weekend, but with the film’s poor reviews, it will not cross the mark. The horror movie is on track to earn between $25 million and $30 million on its three-day opening weekend at the box office in North America. It would be one of the most incredible debuts for a Blumhouse release.
More about the movie
The film follows Bela, an 8-year-old girl growing up in a household plagued by marital problems, who encounters a sinister entity emerging from her closet. Calling the mysterious presence “Other Mommy,” Bela soon discovers that it poses an increasingly terrifying threat to her and her family. Other Mommy was released on October 9.

Sigma Box Office Collection Day 7: Jason Sanjay’s Film Registers A Weak Total! (Photo Credit: Instagram)
Jason Sanjay’s directorial debut, Sigma, has wrapped up its opening week at the box office. The film was released after multiple delays. Starring Sundeep Kishan, the film was surrounded by natural curiosity among fans of superstar Thalapathy Vijay, who is now the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. While this curiosity drove the opening-day numbers, it did not help the film sustain its momentum. Despite average reviews, the film failed to maintain an impressive box office throughout its opening week. Scroll ahead for a detailed box-office report.
How Much Did Sigma Earn At The Box Office In 7 Days?
Jason Sanjay‘s film had good pre-release buzz owing to multiple events across South Indian states. However, the film’s reviews decided its fate from Day 2. From its first Monday, the film’s daily collection dropped below 1 crore. On its first Thursday, the film earned 66 lakh against 1,249 shows. The film’s net total stands at 8.27 crore after its opening week. This equals 9.76 crore gross.
Produced on an estimated budget of 30 crore, the film is looking at a major loss at the box office. In a week, the film’s total collection has remained below 10 crore. The film has recovered only 27.57% of its budget in its opening week. Sigma will have another week of uninterrupted run before Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 takes theaters by storm. The film will lose the majority of its shows with the arrival of Jailer 2.
More About Sigma
Sigma is written and directed by Jason Sanjay and produced by Lyca Productions. The film stars Sundeep Kishan in the lead role. Krishnan Vasant handled the cinematography, while Thaman S. composed the music. Praveen KL served as the editor. The film also stars Raju Sundaram, Shiv Pandit, Faria Abdullah and Sampath Raj, among others.
Drishyam 3 Box Office Day 8 Advance Booking & Prediction ( Photo Credit – Star Studio18 )
Drishyam 3 wrapped up its opening week on a historic note in the crime thriller genre. After fetching big numbers during the weekend, the film maintained the momentum as well. Now, even in its second weekend, it is set for a ride at the Indian box office, with good numbers recorded for the second Friday in advance sales. In fact, it is heading for the best second-Friday collections for Bollywood in 2026, after Dhurandhar 2. Keep reading for a detailed day 8 advance booking and prediction report!
Retains an impressive show count
The second-week show count is one of the main indicators of a film’s success, and in this area, the latest Bollywood crime thriller has scored full marks. It entered week 2 with a strong number of 15,017 shows across India despite some new releases, thus losing only 1,471 shows compared to day 7’s 16,488. Interestingly, the makers have maintained blockbuster pricing, though it’s slightly lower than in the first weekend.
Drishyam 3 grosses 4.5 crore+ through day 8 advance bookings!
As per the advance booking update of day 8, Drishyam 3 sold 1.56 lakh tickets (excluding blocked seats). In terms of collections, it has grossed 4.62 crore at the Indian box office through second-Friday advances. Compared to day 7’s 4.38 crore, it displayed a growth of 5.48%, which is a good sign. In net collections, it equals 3.92 crore.
Day 8 prediction: Targets Bollywood’s 2nd-best second Friday of 2026!
With advances worth 3.92 crore net and an expected good walk-in turnout throughout the day, Drishyam 3 is likely to score 13 crore net at the Indian box office on day 8. With this, the film is set to score Bollywood’s second-best second Friday of 2026, overtaking Border 2 (12.53 crore).

Jailer 2 North America Advance Booking (7 Days To Go): Rajinikanth’s Sequel Needs An Urgent Push!( Photo Credit – Instagram )
Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 is all set for a worldwide release on October 15, 2026, and with a week to go, the USA premiere advance sales stand at $550,959, from 19,713 tickets across 391 locations and 835 shows. Directed by Nelson, the film has been in production for over a year and is set to release around the Dussehra holidays, but the superstar’s last release Coolie set a higher bar, finishing with much higher sales at the same point in the USA!
Jailer 2 VS Coolie North America Advance Booking
A week before the USA premiere day, Coolie registered a gross collection of $1.15 million from 44.5K tickets, in advance. Against Coolie’s pre-sales at the same point, Jailer 2 is running 47% lower. The sequel has reached only about 48% of the gross and about 44% of the ticket sales in advance for the premiere day.
However, a week is a long time to book in advance, and a film of this scale usually builds momentum in the closing days. The ingredients for the film are already strong. The only disadvantage is that the festive weekend will be crowded! While Hindi already has Nayyi Navelli and Prahaar, Telugu Cinema has Vijay Deverakonda’s Ranabaali.
Rajinikanth‘s sequel needs an urgent push. However, reaching Coolie’s final presales of over $2 million might be impossible for Jailer 2. But it might still choose to become the highest pre-sales in North America for an Indian film in 2026.
