Other Mommy North America Box Office: Records Strong Thursday Previews (Photo Credit – Universal Pictures)
Other Mommy, starring Jessica Chastain, has landed with solid previews at the North American box office. But with poor critics’ ratings, could its opening weekend be hampered? The horror movie is expected to land at #1 in the box office rankings in North America in its opening weekend. Keep scrolling for the deets.
The critics gave it just 20% on Rotten Tomatoes‘ Tomatometer, and the audience rating is also discouraging. Critics noted that despite Jessica Chastain’s commendable performance as the spectral embodiment of an overbearing parent, Other Mommy was too silly for its occasionally effective jump scares to make the film genuinely spooky. The movie is expected to have a rocky run at the box office.
Other Mommy’s Thursday previews at the North American box office
According to box office analyst, Luiz Fernando, the Jessica Chastain starrer Other Mommy collected a solid $3.6 million from the Thursday previews at the North American box office. It is much better than expected and is above many horror movies as well. Other Mommy’s Thursday previews gross is more than Iron Lung‘s [$3.5 million], Scream 5 [$3.5 million], The Black Phone [$3 million], and Longlegs [$3 million].
According to reports, with $3.6 million previews, a film could open with more than $30 million in its opening weekend, but with the film’s poor reviews, it will not cross the mark. The horror movie is on track to earn between $25 million and $30 million on its three-day opening weekend at the box office in North America. It would be one of the most incredible debuts for a Blumhouse release.

Sigma Box Office Collection Day 7: Jason Sanjay’s Film Registers A Weak Total! (Photo Credit: Instagram)
Jason Sanjay’s directorial debut, Sigma, has wrapped up its opening week at the box office. The film was released after multiple delays. Starring Sundeep Kishan, the film was surrounded by natural curiosity among fans of superstar Thalapathy Vijay, who is now the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. While this curiosity drove the opening-day numbers, it did not help the film sustain its momentum. Despite average reviews, the film failed to maintain an impressive box office throughout its opening week. Scroll ahead for a detailed box-office report.
How Much Did Sigma Earn At The Box Office In 7 Days?
Jason Sanjay‘s film had good pre-release buzz owing to multiple events across South Indian states. However, the film’s reviews decided its fate from Day 2. From its first Monday, the film’s daily collection dropped below 1 crore. On its first Thursday, the film earned 66 lakh against 1,249 shows. The film’s net total stands at 8.27 crore after its opening week. This equals 9.76 crore gross.
Produced on an estimated budget of 30 crore, the film is looking at a major loss at the box office. In a week, the film’s total collection has remained below 10 crore. The film has recovered only 27.57% of its budget in its opening week. Sigma will have another week of uninterrupted run before Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 takes theaters by storm. The film will lose the majority of its shows with the arrival of Jailer 2.

Drishyam 3 Box Office Day 8 Advance Booking & Prediction ( Photo Credit – Star Studio18 )
Drishyam 3 wrapped up its opening week on a historic note in the crime thriller genre. After fetching big numbers during the weekend, the film maintained the momentum as well. Now, even in its second weekend, it is set for a ride at the Indian box office, with good numbers recorded for the second Friday in advance sales. In fact, it is heading for the best second-Friday collections for Bollywood in 2026, after Dhurandhar 2. Keep reading for a detailed day 8 advance booking and prediction report!
Retains an impressive show count
The second-week show count is one of the main indicators of a film’s success, and in this area, the latest Bollywood crime thriller has scored full marks. It entered week 2 with a strong number of 15,017 shows across India despite some new releases, thus losing only 1,471 shows compared to day 7’s 16,488. Interestingly, the makers have maintained blockbuster pricing, though it’s slightly lower than in the first weekend.
Drishyam 3 grosses 4.5 crore+ through day 8 advance bookings!
As per the advance booking update of day 8, Drishyam 3 sold 1.56 lakh tickets (excluding blocked seats). In terms of collections, it has grossed 4.62 crore at the Indian box office through second-Friday advances. Compared to day 7’s 4.38 crore, it displayed a growth of 5.48%, which is a good sign. In net collections, it equals 3.92 crore.
Day 8 prediction: Targets Bollywood’s 2nd-best second Friday of 2026!
With advances worth 3.92 crore net and an expected good walk-in turnout throughout the day, Drishyam 3 is likely to score 13 crore net at the Indian box office on day 8. With this, the film is set to score Bollywood’s second-best second Friday of 2026, overtaking Border 2 (12.53 crore).

Jailer 2 North America Advance Booking (7 Days To Go): Rajinikanth’s Sequel Needs An Urgent Push!( Photo Credit – Instagram )
Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 is all set for a worldwide release on October 15, 2026, and with a week to go, the USA premiere advance sales stand at $550,959, from 19,713 tickets across 391 locations and 835 shows. Directed by Nelson, the film has been in production for over a year and is set to release around the Dussehra holidays, but the superstar’s last release Coolie set a higher bar, finishing with much higher sales at the same point in the USA!
Jailer 2 VS Coolie North America Advance Booking
A week before the USA premiere day, Coolie registered a gross collection of $1.15 million from 44.5K tickets, in advance. Against Coolie’s pre-sales at the same point, Jailer 2 is running 47% lower. The sequel has reached only about 48% of the gross and about 44% of the ticket sales in advance for the premiere day.
However, a week is a long time to book in advance, and a film of this scale usually builds momentum in the closing days. The ingredients for the film are already strong. The only disadvantage is that the festive weekend will be crowded! While Hindi already has Nayyi Navelli and Prahaar, Telugu Cinema has Vijay Deverakonda’s Ranabaali.
Rajinikanth‘s sequel needs an urgent push. However, reaching Coolie’s final presales of over $2 million might be impossible for Jailer 2. But it might still choose to become the highest pre-sales in North America for an Indian film in 2026.

Ranabaali Trailer Review: Vijay Deverakonda & Rashmika Mandanna Promise A Stellar Period Drama (Photo Credit – T-Series)
Actors Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda are pairing up on screen after a long gap. While they were not seen together on screen, they kept the audience guessing about their on-screen relationship. This was until they made the relationship official and legal with their wedding pictures this year. In the year, they are returning to the big screen as a couple in Ranabaali. What’s even more interesting is that it is a period drama.
Director Rahul Sankrityan describes his film as an alternate-history film, which means it takes a part of history and reimagines how it could have played out. The upcoming film is set against the backdrop of the 19th-century famine in southern India under British rule. Vijay plays a fictional character who is also the savior of his people.
The trailer opens with the birth of a miracle baby amid dramatic circumstances. We hear a background voice claiming that this baby will help the local people free themselves from British rule. The little baby grows to be Ranabaali (Vijay Deverakonda). He married Jayamma (Rashmika Mandanna) in an arranged marriage. The tone of the trailer becomes quite light-hearted when he gets glimpses of their playful marriage.
But things get intense when a famine hits the region, and the British only profit from it. Many locals take their lives, while many others die of starvation. During this phase, Ranabaali rises to the occasion and almost becomes a one-man army to take down the British.
Ranabaali could be the comeback Vijay Deverakonda has been waiting for. He is an aggressive personified in the trailer as the titular character. Rashmika Mandanna is charming as Jayamma and seems to be the soul of the film. This marks the couple’s on-screen reunion after Dear Comrade (2017). Previously, the couple has shone on screen with their chemistry. However, Ranabaali places them in a different era and set of circumstances, unlike their previous screen collaborations.
However, in many parts, Rahul Sankrityan’s film feels overly dramatized. This was recently observed in Nani’s The Paradise, which was loud and lacked soul. The trailer of Ranabaali also shows Indians getting brutally murdered by the British. However, it feels like a forced way to evoke emotion in audiences. When violence is used for shock value, it loses impact and fails to elicit the desired emotion in the audience. In recent years, several films have used violence in a similar manner, to the extent that it now has the potential to desensitize the audience.
However, the extent of Ranabaali’s impact will be known upon its October 16 release. The film will be released in theaters on the same weekend as Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2.
Ranabaali USA Box Office Advance Sales: Vijay Deverakonda Needs A Huge Push In 8 Days! (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Vijay Deverakonda’s period drama Ranabaali has begun its US pre-sales on a considerably low note, with premieres still 8 days away. The film is set for a worldwide release on October 16, 2026, in the Dussehra window. The USA premiere advance sales stand at $13,125, from 743 tickets across 150 locations and 269 shows.
Vijay Deverakonda’s Last Release
Compared to Vijay Deverakonda’s last release, the numbers for Ranabaali are comparatively very low, but it will soon pick up, now that the trailer of the film has arrived. The final USA pre-sales for Kingdom were a gross collection of $480L against 891 shows! The film sold 25.7K tickets in advance at almost 264 locations for the premiere show!
Meanwhile, the North America total gross for Kingdom for the premiere show in advance, stood at $531K from about 28K tickets, across 278 locations and 925 shows, with Canada adding $51,564 from 2,435 tickets. Vijay’s upcoming biggie has yet to open its advance sales in Canada, so direct comparison with North American numbers at the box office is not possible!
Against Kingdom’s final USA figure for the advance booking of the premiere show, Ranabaali has reached just 2.7% of the gross sales. Ranabaali has 150 locations. Currently, the film is averaging about 2.8 tickets per show. It would be interesting to see if it matches Kingdom’s final USA numbers of about 29 tickets per show in advance, once more locations open for advance booking!
A festival weekend will definitely help this film, which is Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna’s third film together, after Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade. Directed by Rahul Sankrityan and backed by Mythri Movie Makers, the film is already boasting of Ajay – Atul’s music. However, the competition is a concern. Rajinikanth‘s Jailer 2 is slated around the same festive window.
Vijay Deverakonda needs a big push with Ranabaali. To reach Kingdom’s final USA pre-sales of $480,190, Ranabaali would need to grow by roughly 37 times from where it stands. That is a very tall order, but the final days will show whether the film can close the gap.

Drishyam 3 actor Prakash Raj wrote, “Miss you, my dear Nana ji .. Will cherish the moments spent..conversations.. arguments.. the food you cooked.. knowledge you shared. Thank you for coming into my life’s journey.”
Actress and politician Smriti Irani also cherished her last memories with the actor in a heartbreaking note. Her tribute read, “We barely ever photographed our moments together. Perhaps because one could never imagine there would come a day when photographs would be all I am left with. Our last conversation still echoes in my ears.
“Aa re Pune, kadhi yeshil?” Come to Pune. When will you visit?
Actor Boman Irani shared how he received this news during his morning walk and wrote, “This is difficult, painful, and emotional. I was on my morning walk when I received the sad call. Strangely, a morning walk was his regular advice for me. Come on, Boman. Walk, walk, he always said. I’m heartbroken, but we should not let our sorrow obscure his contribution to cinema and theatre.”
The industry is mourning the loss, and no amount of talent can fill this void ever. Koimoi extends condolences to the grieving family and friends. May his soul rest in peace.

The Social Reckoning Movie Review: A Sequel That Misses The Original’s Magic (Photo Credit: Instagram)
What’s Good: Mikey Madison nails Sorkin’s dialogue and proves why she has an Oscar under her belt.
What’s Bad: The film is too operatic, devolving into an artificiality that makes everything feel like an imitation of the previous film.
Loo Break: The film keeps you engaged, but taking a break during the second act might be warranted.
Watch or Not?: This is mostly a pass, unless you truly love seeing a movie about Mark Zuckerberg.
Language: English (with subtitles)

Runtime: 112 Minutes

The Social Network was a truly special film, being nominated for many awards and winning a lot of those nominations, and it is still, remembered fondly, but since that time, things have changed, including the fact that Sorkin is no longer just a writer but also a director, and a very bad one, and it is this movie, more than any other he has directed so far, the one that makes the best case for him to let others direct his work, because with him on the director’s chair, things are not working.

The Social Reckoning Movie Review: Script Analysis
I remember the time when The Social Network was first announced, and it was done with the headline of being a movie about Facebook, and for a time it was known like that, as the Facebook movie, but now it is known as an outstanding piece of filmmaking, taking its director David Fincher and writer Aaron Sorkin to a new level in their careers, but sadly those roads led nowhere, with Fincher barely making movies and Sorkin thinking he could do what Fincher did in the first film, only to prove that Fincher’s sensibilities might be more important than anyone knew at the time.
Sorkin now arrives with this sequel, The Social Reckoning, a movie obsessed with its messaging and its ideas and obsessed with letting the audience know what it has to say, with characters often serving more as exposition machines than actual characters with characterization, ideas of their own, or even lives of their own.
Sorkin might be a bad director, but he is certainly a good writer, or at least, a writer that knows how to keep people engaged on what is being said on the screen, thanks to snappy dialogue that is fired from the actors’ mouths at light speed and keeps things moving along nicely, and so while sometimes you might not know what these characters are talking about, at least you know that it will lead somewhere.
However, while the dialogue knows how to keep people engaged, it might be that some people, or most of them, will not care about what is being said on the screen, and this is the movie’s fatal flaw, its subject feels dated and uninteresting, and it can’t find a way to make it so, while the previous movie launched during Facebook’s peak cultural relevancy, The Social Reckoning, releases when the platform has been mostly abandoned by the youth, and even Zuckerberg himself has moved to greener pastures.
The Social Reckoning Movie Review: Star Performance
The Social Network had amazing performances, including Jesse Eisenberg as Zuckerberg, and it is was such a perfect performance, one that only he could pull off, that he even received an Oscar nomination for it, Eisenberg is not here, and his lack of presence is felt, because, while Jeremy Strong is a fantastic actor, he is not Zuckerberg, as he just lacks the boyish quality that Eisenberg has, and seeing Strong in the role just feels wrong and unconvincing.
Meanwhile, it is Mikey Madison, who excels at not only reciting Sorkin’s dialogue but also at being an engaging presence on screen and giving her whole on it, making the movie watchable, while Jeremy Allen White also does a fantastic job, but he is definitely not the main attraction here, and the movie lets you know from the first couple of minutes, but in general all the performances are nice.

The Social Reckoning Movie Review: Direction, Music
Sorkin made himself famous for his writing, which tells you a lot, as most screenwriters are not famous or even recognized at all in the film industry, not like actors or directors, and so, his writing was good enough to make him an exception in his own guild, but when he decided to try out directing as well, what should have been an experiment is now his career, and it is all worse for it.
Sorkin proves in each scene how he is a word person and not a visual person, as his visual dynamics are very plain and boring, and his energy is lacking on top of maybe not being there at all, and so the actors have to do the heavy lifting by delivering all the information he wants to convey but not fall asleep in the process; I just hope Sorkin understands this with this movie and reaches out for more collaborations with other directors.

The Social Reckoning Movie Review: The Last Word
The Social Reckoning knows what it wants to say but fails at knowing how to say it, with Sorkin proving once again he is not a good director, ruining the pacing, themes, and overall story of his own movie when he should be focused only on the writing and how it reaches the screen. This is not the way for Sorkin to keep making films, and in some strange consequence, it makes me appreciate The Social Network so much more now.
