Yami Gautam’s Article 370 has completed one week at the box office, and the political drama has collected 38.82 crore in 7 days. Unlike other politically motivated films, this one has been well-received by critics and fans alike for its balanced approach. In fact, the film passed with flying colors on day 1 itself.

As soon as the film dropped its teaser and trailer, comparisons were obvious with the most popular film on Kashmir in recent times – The Kashmir Files, which was helmed by Vivek Agnihotri. The film became a massive success and went down in the history of Indian Cinema.

In fact, it felt like good news when Article 370 collected 6.12 crore at the box office on the opening day. This number escalated way better on Day 2 and Day 3, bringing an unexpected 25 crore weekend for the Yami Gautam film. The growth over the first weekend of the film was phenomenal.

Article 370 VS The Kashmir Files Day 1

On the opening day, Yami Gautam’s film performed way better than Vivek Agnigotri‘s film, offering a take on the ordeals of Kashmiri Pandits. While The Kashmir Files collected 3.55 crore on day 1, Article 370 performed way better, with almost 2x collections registering 6.12 crore on the opening day.

The Kashmir Files 27.8 Times Multiple!

The Kashmir Files collected 97.30 crore in one week. The film’s collection jumped almost 27.8 times in multiples when compared to the collections on day 1. Meanwhile, Article 370 jumped by only 6.3 times multiple of its opening day, collecting 38.82 crore in total.

Day 1 to Day 7 Growth

From day 1 to day 7 while The Kashmir Files jumped by a whopping 408.45%, Yami Gautam’s Article 370 dropped by almost 49.83% from day 1 to day 7. In fact, the major difference between both films came from the first Sunday. Post that, The Kashmir Files refused to drop; it almost kept touching the 20 crore mark every single day over the week. Meanwhile Article 370 maintained its number over the week at 3 crore3.5 crore.
