The upcoming movie will mark Robert Downey Jr.’s return to the MCU after the dramatic end of his Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. In September, Endgame is also re-releasing with new footage connected to Doomsday, adding more to the hype around this upcoming Marvel biggie. Downey’s return as the big baddie is all the more reason for fans to watch this movie, and they hope the makers will live up to everyone’s expectations.

Avengers: Doomsday crosses $40 million in pre-sales in North America

According to reports, tickets for the upcoming film went on sale in July after its first trailer was released. It clocked in an estimated $16.5 million on its opening day of pre-sales, within hours of the trailer’s release. By mid-August, Avengers: Doomsday had collected around $35 million and had hit the $40 million mark in North American pre-sales.

According to Global Box Office‘s latest post, Avengers: Doomsday is the first film ever to cross $40 million in domestic pre-sales. There are still around 100 days left before its theatrical release. It is only the beginning of setting new records for the film, with many more to come in the coming days.

More about the movie

As per early estimates, the film by Joe Russo and Anthony Russo is tracking to earn between $260 milion and $300 million on its opening weekend at the box office in North America. However, it is below Avengers: Endgame’s $357.1 million opening weekend gross at the domestic box office. Globally, it is expected to open with a $1 billion collection similar to its predecessor.

Directed by the Russo brothers, the film follows the Avengers, Wakandans, and New Avengers from Earth-616; the Fantastic Four from Earth-828; and the original X-Men from a separate universe as they converge to face the existential threat posed by Doctor Doom. Avengers: Doomsday will be released on December 18.
