Atlee made his directorial debut in Bollywood with Jawan. The action thriller starred Nayanthara as the leading lady while Deepika Padukone also made a special appearance. Priyamani, Vijay Sethupathi, Sanya Malhotra, Riddhi Dogra, and Sunil Grover are also seen in pivotal roles.
Jawan Budget & Box Office Collection
Shah Rukh Khan starrer was reportedly mounted on a staggering budget of 300 crores. The action thriller passed with flying colors at the box office. It made a box office collection of 640.42 crores and became the highest-grossing Bollywood film in India.

How much did Shah Rukh Khan earn from Jawan?
After the massive success of Pathaan, Shah Rukh Khan opted for profit sharing for his second release in 2023. While ideally, he would make around 50-60 crores in salary, the superstar earned a staggering sum of 130 crores, as per rumors. This makes up almost 43% of the budget!
Nayanthara’s salary for Jawan
On the other hand, Shah Rukh Khan’s leading lady charged a sum of 11 crores for Jawan. Leading actresses of Bollywood take home around 10-12 crores, so Nayanthara seemed to have matched upto this amount.
This means Nayanthara took home almost 3.6% of Jawan’s budget in salary.
Atlee’s remuneration
Atlee is considered no less than a superstar in the South. His movies like Bigil, Theri, and Raja Rani are huge successes worldwide. The director also came at a hefty price as he charged around 30 crores for Shah Rukh Khan starrer. That makes up about 10% of the cost.
It would be interesting to note that Atlee, Shah Rukh Khan & Nayanthara alone cost 57%, but the risk paid off pretty well for the producers!
Worldwide box office collection
The action thriller broke several records in the overseas markets as well. It is currently the second-highest-grossing Bollywood film at the box office worldwide.
Jawan added 1435 crores gross from international circuits while the gross collection from India was 757.62 crores. The overall collections were 1163.62 crores.
Number 1 on the list is Aamir Khan starrer Dangal, with worldwide earnings of 1970 crores gross.
